Eyelid ptosis occurs when a patient has difficulty opening the eyes to its full extent due to the abnormality of the eyelid muscle and the nerve connected to it. Looking up also triggers the forehead muscles to contract, causing wrinkles in the long run. Mueller muscle contraction in the eyelids stimulates the sympathetic nerve which is also responsible for a host of other symptoms such as: neck and shoulder stiffness, irritation, insomnia, etc. – that gradually lower the quality of life.
